It's so hard, isn't it? People don't understand until they've had a special dog. I hope you can find some peace in knowing how much your dog was loved.
I traversed the new bridge with my pack when it was just an unsteady log, and I was not a fan. Two weeks later it was an honor to get back out to secure that log and build up the rails. It better last even though we know the wilderness overrules our best efforts. (The approach is certainly an improvement!)

Thank you for building the bridge! Definitely a better option than the uncontrolled slide down the river bank and sketchy log.
